Planning Your Golf Vacation

Below we address from frequently asked questions on subjects such as the weather in the Myrtle Beach area, dealing with rainouts, double tees times, the aerification of greens, accommodation options, and our quote process. You can find answers to other Myrtle Beach golf vacation related questions on our main FAQ page.

What is the weather like in Myrtle Beach?

The average high in February is 60 degrees. Make sure you bring a sweater or a jacket just in case you happen to come on one of our colder days. However, the cooler seasons are a great time to come to Myrtle Beach as you can save money as both courses and accommodations drastically reduce pricing in the off-peak months.

The average high in April and October is 76 / 77 degrees. This is why most Myrtle Beach Golf Vacations are planned to arrive during these two months of the year. It is a perfect time to come on a golf trip. Make sure you pack some shorts!

In July it starts to get a little hotter with an average temperature reaching 91 degrees. We would advise scheduling an earlier tee time to get your golf in before the temperature gets too high.

Rain…Now What do we do?

A rainout is the last thing anyone wants to have happen on their Myrtle Beach Golf Vacations, but unfortunately Mother Nature doesn’t play golf. Each course will have its own rain-out policy and we must abide by their rules to book tee-times. All of the areas Myrtle Beach Golf courses have a NO-SHOW policy throughout the year, meaning that they do not give refunds unless the course is closed for play. Over the last couple of years the rapidly growing trend for most courses is to issue rain checks for rain-out rounds. Some are good indefinitely, and some have expiration dates (usually a year, but we have been able to negotiate extensions 100% of the time so far). If the rain checks can be worked into the schedule during the trip – great. If not, they can be used on future trips. Any good Myrtle Beach Golf Package company will ask the courses to hold times for you as a courtesy against the rain checks as you set up next year’s trip. There are still a few courses who will agree to waive charges for a rained out day. If that is the case there is a space on the reverse of your voucher for a signature from the Pro Shop signifying there will be no charge. Have it signed – return it to us – and we will be able to issue a refund. PLEASE KEEP IN MIND…you MUST go to the golf course if you would like for them to issue you a rain check or refund (if applicable).

What does Double Tee mean?

Double Tee simply means that the course is teeing golfers off the 1st Tee and 10th Tee at the same time. This is done to maximize the number of golfers a course can put out in a single day. Typically tee times run from around 700-930am off #1 & #10 tees for the morning session. And then from around 12:00-230pm off #1 & #10 for the afternoon. Therefore, there are no tee times available in between those slots (for example there would be no 1030am tee times available because they simply do not exists).

Not all courses Double Tee. There are still several courses for your Myrtle Beach Golf Vacations that you can find that run their tee times on a straight tee off of #1 tee box all day long. We can help you decide which courses and tee times will work best for the schedule you have in mind.

What does it mean to “Aerify” or “Punch” the Greens?

Aerification is a mechanical process that creates more air space in the soil and promotes deeper rooting, which helps the greens stay healthy. In most cases, it’s done by removing half-inch cores with metal tines (those plugs you sometimes see near a green or in fairways) from the compacted soil (also where the term “punching the greens comes from), allowing for an infusion of air and water that brings a resurgence of growth. The spaces are then filled with sand “topdressing” that helps the soil retain air space and makes it easier for roots to grow downward. We do everything in our power to make sure our Myrtle Beach Golf Vacations are informed about when golf courses are Aerifying their greens.

What is the difference between staying in a Condo or Hotel on my Myrtle Beach Golf Vacations?

Typically most of the condos in the Myrtle Beach area are going to allow you a little more room for you and your buddies to hang out after your round. A normal setup would be 4 golfers staying in a 2Bedroom 2Bath golf course villa which has a Full Kitchen, Living area, Washer/Dryer, Porch or Balcony, and 4 Separate Beds. Prices are typically less expensive as you are splitting the cost of the condo between 4 golfers. Also, there are many different options all around Myrtle Beach all with similar setups. Some options would be: Crow Creek Golf Villas, Brunswick Plantation, Barefoot Resort Golf Villas, Barefoot Resort Yacht Club Villas, Myrtlewood Villas, River Oaks, World Tour Villas, & True Blue Villas.

If however you would like to stay in a hotel, maybe something on the ocean which might include a daily breakfast each morning, onsite swimming pools, and many other amenities then there are options for you as well. Check out: Best Western PLUS Carolinian, SeaSide Resort, and many more.

Should we stay close to Myrtle Beach nightlife or to our Golf Courses?

Great question and one that the group will have to ultimately decide. For some of our Myrtle Beach Golf Vacations group members are simply there to have a good time, party, and maybe play a few rounds of golf. If this is your and your group then let us help you decide on which accommodation will put you where you need to be.

Then you have the groups that do not care at all about nightlife and are here to play as much Myrtle Beach Golf as they can possibly play. In this case we typically recommend staying very close to the courses you are playing so you do not waste more time in the car traveling each day.
However, typically you have a little mix of both, groups that are here to have fun and play a lot of golf. Again, this is when our expertise on advising you on your golf schedule and lodging will benefit you and your group tremendously. You shouldn’t have to drive an hour each day to get to your golf course nor should you have to hop in a 45 taxi ride to go out at night. Let us help put you and your group right where you want to be for the time of your life!

Why all the questions on your Quote Request form?

We try to limit our Myrtle Beach Golf Vacations quote request forms down to the basics. However, it all boils down to the fact that the more you let us know about what you are really looking for in your next Golf Vacation, the better able we are to suggest a golf trip that will really fit the bill.

Golf is deceptively simple and endlessly complicated; it satisfies the soul and frustrates the intellect. It is at the same time rewarding and maddening - and it is without a doubt the greatest game mankind has ever invented.

Arnold Palmer

If you watch a game, it's fun. If you play it, it's recreation. If you work at it, it's golf.

Bob Hope

If you think it's hard to meet new people, try picking up the wrong golf ball.

Jack Benny

Golf is a game whose aim is to hit a very small ball into an even smaller hole, with weapons singularly ill-designed for the purpose.

Winston Churchill

Golf combines two favorite American pastimes; taking long walks and hitting things with a stick.
